Hi Everybody! Sorry for the delay in posting but time has been short lately...
This is a post on an unusual travel destination, to say the least! The trip I had the chance to make was not for tourist purposes, but it is interesting to show also some «off the beaten trek» towns too... Hope you like to see Prishtina!! Enjoy and have a great week ahead!

The youth palace looks very different and interesting!

Its hard to imagine that this wonderful place was riddled by conflict sometime ago..... am very happy to note that all of that is the past now.

Seems it's a place worth a visit!
Have a great weekend:)

Your life is filled with lots of adventure. Love the street scenes and the market place with colourful fruits.

We had here as friend one family from Kosovo in those years, when they needed a safe place. We visited them and they visited us. One son married with a girl of Bulgaria and went there, other son went back to Kosovo with his parents after few years here.
It makes good to see also countries not so ready for tourists.
good weekend to you, Gil and your wife !

So happy to find a new post!!!

Of course, I would also hardly imagine to include Prishtina in my immediate pleasure trips plans... but it's really interesting to see what it looks like. It's nice when the job can bring you to new, yet unvisited places ... especially if you find a little time for visiting!

wow. i never thought kosovo could be this lovely. i always associate the place with bad news. good thing you brought light into in. awesome job :)

It was nice of you to tell us about Krishtina. Tall modern buildings do not fascinate me. I would settle for the domed church. Market is amazing.

Thank you, Trotter. I am fascinated to see photos of such places. No sign of past troubles in the photos? It is good to see it looking so "normal." Disappointing to see it looking so much like everywhere. The salad looks great!

It is a little different. I like the market shots.

Nice glimpses of Prishtina, Kosova. Loved the monuments, the streets, the bazaar of spices, fruits & vegetables, the restaurants & parks..... Hey whats a statue of Mother Theresa doing in Kosovo? (I think she is actually of Albanian origin before she moved to Kolkata in India at a very young age to carry out missionary work)
Best Wishes Ram

From your pictures one wouldn't believe that there was such a terrible war there not so long time ago !

Hi Gil, I like the shots of the market & the tree-lined street the most I think.
The architecture certainly is varied, I prefer the old buildings!

Hello Gil and Mrs. Trotter!
Thank you for sharing your photos of Kosovo! It interests me especially because we have a friend in New Orleans from there and now because of you, at least I've seen a bit of the country because of you two!!

Dear Trotter,
Were surprised!
I had to combine the Kosovo with the war. Now you see, through your great pictures, very nice places, monuments, modern buildings ...
I am very pleased that proceeded the life ...
many greetings

Hi Folks! Let’s profit from the little time available to reply to your kind comments. Thanks a lot for not letting this blog perish...

Cloudia,
Amazing isn’t it? ;)

Regina,
Nice? People there are quite nice and I have some very good friends there...

Susu,
Old is dominant; but new is growing...

Rakesh,
The palace is typically soviet style... There are still some issues to solve, but things are going far better nowadays...

Joo,
Well, if you have friends there... Anyhow, any place deserves a visit...

Alice,
This can be thought as some kind of adventure... ;)

Leena,
There were also many Kosovars in Portugal during those days... And there are still some Portuguese troops in Kosovo!!

Peter,
Not exactly a top tourist destination... ;) But it’s interesting to have a chance to visit it anyway!!

Lawstude,
Not always bad news...

P.N.,
Prishtina... The domed church, however. Has a tricky story to tell and actually was never finished...

Trotter said...

Part Two:

Ted,
It’s true that things are becoming «normalized» everywhere... The salads are absolutely fantastic there!!

Diane,
That market was impressive. All kinds of peppers... and all colours... ;)

Keats,
Appealing? Well, when one is curious...

Rhonda,
Wow! Great to read you back here!!

Ram,
Mother Teresa was Albanian and the majority of the Kosovars are of Albanian descent... No wonder to see her statue there...

M.Kate,
Some years ago it looked far away for almost everybody...

Lara,
Incredible, but true... ;))

Leo,
It was a very very colourful market...

Shengen Visa,
Spam, deleted...

Star,
Thanks!!

Ron,
People wouldn’t be expecting much, but it’s improving!!

Trotter said...

Part Three:

Eye,
Cristiano Ronaldo and Linic (my shampoo before he joined the club): what a combination... ;))

Lady,
No snow in October 2010... ;)

Gattina,
You’re absolutely right!!

Paul,
The picture of the girls going to school is also one of my favourites on this post. The market colours were awesome!!

G@tto,
You were surprised, confess... ;))

Magic,
My pleasure!!

Rajesh,
Are you sure?

Ola,
I think it was a surprise for almost everybody on this blog... ;))

Blogitse,
You’re absolutely right!!

Joyce,
The market was a must!!

Alex,
Thanks!!

Trotter said...

Part Four, and final, for the time being...

Pietro,
Great that you liked!!

Constance,
Great to contribute to your knowledge of your friend’s country capital city!!

Thérèse,
That’s an interesting way of putting it... ;))

Lucie,
Il changera vite...

Yvonne,
Beautiful? OK! Your eyes are always so kind...

Lynn,
I must confess it wasn’t that easy to be awaken in that room... Too much red... ;)

Joseph,
No wonder; she was Albanian...

Juka,
Or they get attention for bad reasons... ;)

Lyliane,
Tu as raison!! L’Islande elle est bien jolie... Mais le mal au dos st terrible !! Moins 16º? C’est la folie complète… ;)

Shengen Visa,
Spam deleted!!

Magda,
War ended some time ago, fortunately...

I missed Mother Teresa the first time. We don't see her in stone very often.
She should be having done so much good work in her life. More people should remember her especially in India.

Hi Gil,
Thank you for taking me to Puerto Rico!! Adore those pastille buildings, especially. You say your and Mrs. T. are not traveling right now. It's also nice great be home, don't you think? To travel in your imagination is so much fun, too!!

Happy March to you both!

Question are those bars/fences for universities or banks? Country looks entirely different than I expected with the modern buildings and fountains and power plants.
