Hi Folks! Last week I was supposed to take my 2011 vacation time. Sadly it was the shortest vacation on my life: out on August 26th and back on August 27th! My mother (89) fractured the femur neck, went to the hospital for surgery and back home I was! After a week coming and going to the hospital and without vacation this year, let’s remember the good times of last summer: great beaches in Corsica! Enjoy, drop a line and have a gorgeous week, anywhere you are...
Hope your mum is okay and that you can have a holiday later. Thank you for the trip around Corsica The beaches are beautiful and the water so clear and blue.
Come for a helicopter ride with me on my blog.
Superb...great pics, as usual :)
Grandes fotos e lugares maravilhosos. Um monte de viajar e é visto a partir de um grande número de fotos. Gosto muito desse jeito. Peter.
Oh, your poor mum! Hope she's getting better!
Autumn has arrived to Helsinki. Sad but true.
Your poor Mum Trotter - hope her recovery is speedy- thankfully you have the memories of this beautiful place - blue seas -blue skies and Oh! so vechio!
Very nice images, Gil. Wishing your mum a speedy recovery!

some amazing images...love the first one too much!!
Hoping everything is fine.
I have omitted to check the blogs of my friends for a while... having been away and been busy. I can see that you have not been posting for a long while. Hope that everything is OK, despite the unfortunate things you mentioned in your introduction comment. Hope that you will soon resume your nice posts! All the best!
that was beautiful!!
Hello Gil, So good to see you! If I had my druthers, I'd love to be sitting at that table, glass of wine in hand, at Hotel Le Goeland. The view is stunning. xo
Oh we hope your mom is better already!
Corsica seems to be a place to visit.
I had a long blogging break - the whole summer. I was too busy to blog, still busy but I try to post at least once a week. This Wed we're going to Madrid for 4 days.
Situation in Europe is bad. And who started this - France and Germany and now the whole Europe is in the mess!
We've had a long and hot summer and autumn has been long and beautiful. No snow yet in Helsinki! :)
Hope you both are okay and life is not too stressful.
Thanks for your comment,
have a good week ahead!
Hey, Gil. Seen this post already a few weeks ago. I'm demanding for new ones! LOL. Kidding, of course.
I'm glad you're back. What can I say... If I were God, I'd design a beach exactly like the one at the 1st photo. It's just a piece of paradise. All I can do is admire its beauty.
Hope everything gets better soon.
Cheers!
Too bad for your parents. That is one of life's dark side I've already stepped in.
Your 2010's holidays were a better time for sure, isn't it...
Concerning the financial crisis, we really should #occupytheplanet!
I hope your mum is better now and good times will come back. At least you can remember the wonderful holiday times last year.
Herzliche Grüße aus Köln
Ingrid
How incredibly beautiful - especially the beaches!
Sorry to hear about the problems at home (and in the EU ...). I hope it will all work out. For the moment, though, I'll gladly switch my rain for this tremendous weather!
I send a prayer and good thoughts for you and your parents. Glad to see you blogging again.
Sorry to hear about your mom, but glad to know that the surgery went well! I guess you just have to make up for your "shortest" vacation ever!
wishing you calm seas after your recent troubles, friend!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom, Gil! I hope she has a full recovery. My Mom is the same age and I worry the same will happen to her someday. I hope you Dad is also feeling better.
Vacations like the ones you took in Corsica are wonderful, and the memories of such happy times are very good to have in the hard times you are going through now.
I hope you will soon be able to enjoy another wonderful trip-- sincere my best wishes and prayers for your parents.
These are gorgeous! Hope your mother feels much better soon....hugs to you two! :)
Hi Everybody! It took some time, but finally you got the answers; even if you don’t care about them... Except for that small number of dear blog friends who actually read all this stuff… Thanks for coming here, always…
Diane,
Hopefully things will be better, but reasonably things can only get worse…
I’ll take that helicopter ride wherever you make it…
Siddhartha,
Thanks!!
Petrolin,
That Google translator makes great surprises… In particular using Portuguese from Brazil… ;)
Susu,
And the hour moved to winter time; awful!!
Dianne,
Memories, that’s what we have…
Ash,
Thanks for the wishes!
Alice,
A 24 hour break with mom in hospital isn’t that interesting…
Mariposa,
Sarawak? That remembers me Sandakan… ;) Hope you were not caught in floods in Thailand…
Happy belated birthday to your sister!
Lyliane,
Merci pour ton souvenir de la date…
P.N.,
Thanks! There is always a lot to know when you travel...
Part Two:
Emm,
Start packing!! ;)
Ram,
I’ve done! Your daughter looks cute!!
Ron,
Thanks!!
Lady,
Good weather is something difficult to get this season... But the worse is changing to winter time... ;)
Betty,
Thanks! Looking forward to see both of them stable...
Pietro,
Thanks! You’re too kind always...
Paul,
Santa Giulia is perfect! It has a small hotel just down there, by the beach... Fabulous; but always fully booked from May onwards... ;)
Rosaria,
My pleasure!! Thanks for your visit and first time comment here!! Look forward to reading you often!!
Rakesh,
Thanks! Welcome back!!
Lakshmi,
You were in Europe; my daughter went to India... Fabulous Rajasthan!!
Gizelle,
Great to see you back here!!
Part Three:
Friend,
The beach season is definitely closed here for us, though summer lasted long, almost till the end of October... Incredible!!
Thérèse,
Harsh times... ;-(
Peter,
Hope you had a great Trans-Siberian trip! One of my dreams... Things are in such a phase that it’s hard to see them improving... I would be happy to see it stabilize... I’ll pass through your blog with time to check everything in detail!!
Magic,
Thanks!!
Lynn,
If I had my druthers?
«Origin: This is an American phrase and not used widely elsewhere. People elsewhere in the world might want to know what druthers are, as the phrase conveys otherwise. Druthers is a shortening of 'would rathers'. The phrase originated in the late 19th century and is first cited in the January 1870 edition of Overland monthly and Out West magazine, in a story called Centrepole Bill, by George F. Emery: "If I was a youngster, I 'drather set up in any perfession but a circus-driver, but a man can't always have his 'drathers."
Druthers, as opposed to its earlier variant drathers, is traced back to 1876 in Dialect Notes: "Bein's I caint have my druthers an' set still, I cal'late I'd better pearten up an' go 'long."»
Oh dear, always learning with you!!! The place is really superb, and a glass of Dom Perigon would definitely fit there… ;))
Blogitse,
Hard to see things improve when one is over 90!!
Come on, coming to Madrid? You could make it a little bit to the West, much more interesting… ;)
Great weather up to now; but it seems it’s going to change… And the time has already changed, which is something that drives me mad… I mean winter time…
Eye,
You have a new one; pre-historical, but new… ;)
G@tto,
So, you know the picture… And only son… 2011 wasn’t that good; the problem is that, at least here, 2012 and 2013 are going to be worse…
Ingrid,
Danke sehr! Tschüß!!
Megan,
Thanks for your visit and comment here. Lokk forward to reading you more often!!
Part Four, and final, for the time being...
Rune,
Problems everywhere in Europe, it seems, except where the oil is blowing… ;))
About the weather: one cannot eat the cake and have it… ;)
Paz,
Thanks!!
Jen,
Hopefully, the shortest «ever»… Not to be repeated… ;)
Cloudia,
A calm sea is what I need, but it seems the waves are getting up…
Pat,
Thanks! You know what 90 and over means…
Yvonne,
xoxo
Hi Gil,
I so appreciate these images of sun and sand when we are heading into the dark and cold days here! Looks like an amazing place and deserving of the best beach award.
I hope all is much better with the family. I'm sure you'll be trotting around again next year.
best, Georgianna
G,
Great to read you here!! That's a beautiful island!!
