Hi Everybody! Well, at least those who are not in holidays in some blogosphere–free portion of this world... Corte was the capital of the independent Corsica from 1755-1769. And crossing Corsica from North to South by car is much easier than trekking the GR 20, a 180km long trail that traverses Corsica, with variation in height of about 1 100 metres. Enjoy, drop a line (you’ll be almost alone doing that... ;)) and benefit from your holidays, if you have them... ;)
What an odd piece of structure, St. Michelle is. Very interesting.
The surrounding hills are providing good ambiance. Nice pictures.
amazing stone work!

Amazing place and I am thinking to visit Corsica definitely. The house looks so beautiful lying on the lap of the mountains. Exotic place and you have taken fabulous pictures.
You are welcome at my new posts-

beautiful pics
Fascinating and beautiful place! Thanks for showing:)
Beautiful places, really !
I'm late to your beautiful tour, but I here now!
Adore all, but especially seeing the chocolate and vanilla San Michele De Murato. Never before have I seen such a building!
Happy Summer to you both. Here we are experiencing drought. It is scary. Many of our trees are dying. So sad!!

What a beautiful spot, Gil.
I love the Old Town and the Eagles Nest.
The shot of the church with that massive cloud framing it is a great photo!
Geico is a car insurance company whose mascot is a gecko! One more "gecko" then... ;-))
Thanks for the virtual tour. Interesting to see the houses built on the hill top. Very beautiful scenery and looked very peaceful and calm. Have a nice weekend.
beautiful captures!!
Well, there's definitely a lot to see here. Love the interesting architecture and the scenic views! Thanks for sharing! :)
We have once been in Corsica (a stop with a cruise) it's a lovely place.
I just came back from the English coast my travel blog is
Countries and Cities
Hi, me again. Of course I did this cruse! Unfortunately it was only 4- hour- cruise and it's not enough! If you have a possibility to go there do it! It's an amazing place and Delta is fantastic! If you are interested I put some photos on my other blog http://joo-allcreaturebigandsmall.blogspot.com/ and also om my Picasa Web Albums https://picasaweb.google.com/100524160786640802875
Anyway, Romania is a great place to visit!
Thanks for your comment:)
Joo
This was a nice coincidence because we will visit Corsica after 2 weeks :)
Now I can see, what I will see ;)
Your photos tell about beautiful landscapes and sunsets, thank you! Plenty of history is also on this island.
Relaxing weekend to you and your wife!
I adore that little church! No holiday until this Fall for us Gil. Have a wonderful weekend.
An exceptioonal place and unusual decorations of the church! By the way, your apartment looks very comfortable:)
So beautiful views. It would be nice to walk out there.
nice!!!!...read about corsica in Lonely Planet magazine....but your pics give it a more personal touch!!!
That Bavella is looking very impressive, the same for the cloud. Nice pictures of the church!
Corsica is a beautiful island. I've been there in my childhood on holidays (in the 50s), can't remember too much but I know I liked it.
Cheers,
Bill
Hello Gil! So nice the church of "San Michele de Murato"! All wonderful landscapes, another very interesting post.
Happy weekend and Buon Ferragosto!
:-)
hi!
such a nice tucked away place. The church is really pretty
and the sunsets spectacular
Mr wrist is still crying lol
Awesome photos, gorgeous places, lovely scenery and beautiful sunrise and sun sets. I enjoyed every one of them.
Joseph
gorgeous pics and a great place to add to my bucket list..thanks for tempting me to travel again :)
Very nice post once again. I am liking that little church.
This place looks so dreamy, I wish I was there right now. Oh well.
Joyce M
Gorgeous island and photos!
Wow! Gorgeous photos. I live in Aix en Provence and thinking about running over to Corse for a few days. I'm not so sure I want to attempt it in August...but you've convinced me that I'm going in September. Thanks!
Gosh, Corsica really is stunning. Where have you been this summer G?
Wow, that landscape is so dramatic! I love the church with the black and white stones. How impressive.
Wonderful shots of the place. It has everything architecture, nature.
What an amazing place! It is another spot to add to the list of places I'd like to go. The shot with the cliff is especially impressive. The stone work is amazing.
WOW! What a great place!!
And how are you doing by the way?
Corte looks very dramatic with those high cliffs above it! The view from the Eagle's Nest was magnificent!
Just an amazing post, Gil! I so appreciate how much care you put into the wonderful photos and history. If you were in Corsica last August, makes me wonder where you are now!
All the best,
Georgianna
Hi Everybody! Sorry for the delay, but times have been harsh... Anyhow, thanks for your comments and look forward to keep reading you here!!
Eye,
Quite weird, indeed!!
P.N.,
Beautiful landscape!!
Cloudia,
Aloha! Napoleon is everywhere... ;)
Gecko is everything… ;)
Babli,
Definitely worth while visiting...
Sm,
Thanks for your visit and first time comment here!! Look forward to reading you often here!
Joo,
My pleasure!!
G@tto,
Time to swap from Sardinia... ;)
Rochambeau,
That “chocolate” is a bit greenish, but the colours, the stones and the decoration of San Michele de Murato are amazing!!
Hope you got some rain...
Paul,
And what about the cloud in Bavella; we ran away as soon as we could... ;))
Part Two:
Alice,
Oletta is a beautiful village; and it also has a beautiful view towards the sea...
Magic,
Thanks!!
Yvonne,
There is a lot to see; and when you don’t have much time to go elsewhere, you pay more attention to the details... ;)
Gattina,
Don’t think that Corsica is suitable for a ten hour stopover on a cruise ship... That’s more for the Caribbean Isles... ;)
Joo,
No chance, I had to cancel everything as my mother fractured the femur neck and I couldn’t make the cruise... Just the flight back from Istanbul...
Leena,
Hope you’re having a great time in Corsica!!
Lynn,
No holiday at all for me...
Ola,
That was room 15 at Le Geoland Hotel in Porto Vecchio!! Charming... and a fabulous view...
Susu,
Surely!!
Star,
Much better there than in the books... ;)
Part Three:
Juka,
Bavella pics are truly impressive!! And the monster cloud... amazing!
Bill,
It must have been quite different in the fifties... ;)
Pietro,
San Michele is absolutely stunning!!
Lady,
Hope your wrist is fine now!!
Joseph,
Thanks! My pleasure!
Lakshmi,
Since I’m blocked, at least you travel!! ;)
Ron,
It’s an amazing building...
Sailor,
Thanks for your visit and first time comment here!! Look forward to reading you further...
Joyce,
Start packing... ;)
Ash,
Indeed!!
Part Four and Final, for the time being!!
Daniel,
Merci!
Delana,
Thanks for your visit and first time comment here!! Hope you have a great stay in Corsica!! It’s definitely a great spot to go to...
Emm,
Nowhere! My mother fractured the femur neck and I spent my week vacation going to and coming from the hospital... And still!
Lori,
It’s more green and white, which makes it unique... ;)
Rajesh,
Indeed!!
Lucie,
Ted,
Bavella is quite impressive...
Bhavesh,
Great to read you back!! I’m stuck...
Pat,
Eagle’s Nest is an incredible spot!!
G,
Taking care of my mum...
