Hi Everybody! With more or less difficulty life is coming back to normal and the piles of paper are waning... Still I’m a bit late in visiting all your blogs, but I’ll try to catch up in the weeks to come... Meanwhile, after the traditional canals in Amsterdam, we’ll be wandering in the Amstel, in Jordan and in some Pleinen (Places), with an incursion in the new Hermitage Amsterdam! Unfortunately, no pictures allowed inside... what a shame: the Matisse/Malevich exhibition was fabulous!! Enjoy and have a great weekend!!
Thank you Trotter for another wonderful selection of photos from Amsterdam - they certainly have a very distinctive style of architecture in that beautiful city. Where to next?
Very beautiful photos and I love the street scenes. Thanks for sharing.
Je me souviens de tous ces endroits. Une bien belle ville.
Welcome back Mr. and Mrs T. And once again thank you for your fabulous thoughts and photographs. In this set above, the shot of Rokin intrigues me as does The Royal Theater! It's great to see the city through your eyes. As I mentioned before, I like people from Amsterdam, so it's nice to see the lay of the land. Hope your Easter was nice.

That photo with laundry is fun!
It's lovely to see these photos. I have only been to Amsterdam twice, for a day long visit, on two cruises. Couldn't see much in that short time! Did manage a canal cruise - and were treated t a boatful of nudists up ahead of us, all shapes and sizes!!
J'aime surtout les vieilles maisons typiques.
Love the buildings in Rokin.
Does the 'Paradiso' still exist ?
... yes, I've just checked out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradiso_(Amsterdam)
I was there in 1970, it was my 1st trip to Amsterdam.
wow! sooo many beautiful photos!!
ive seen those canals on tv in childhood. they are just amazing..
Ah! The magical Amsterdam! Thanks very much for these brilliant pictures!
I'm so curious about that Dutch Flatbrick!!!

I like the way you put the photos together (in bunche). they look very festive. What a beautiful city. One of my favorite sights is the main Amsterdam train station.
There is so much to see in Amsterdamn and it's surroundings. I'd love to visit the Hermitage! It's always a disappointment when no photographs are allowed in a museum. I loved the photo of Roken!
such a pretty place... thank you for sharing the wonderful images!
Hi!
Another set of gorgeous pics. Wouldn;t it be nice if they removed borders. If it wasn't for security reasons, I'd have them all dropped.
Hello Gil! Amsterdam is so attractive, and your wonderful photos and collages well depict this unique town.
Happy weekend!
Love the Hermitage and Rokin, Gil.
Amsterdam looks like a fabulous city for tourists - it looks so cozy, too.
I'd love to live there on a barge :)
Seems like people in Amsterdam use bikes more for transportation than U.S.A. does. Perhaps we should start doing more of that. I love to ride my bike.
Towels hanging out to dry reminds me of sunshine and warm days. Hope we get some soon.
Lovely blog. I always look forward to viewing your travel blog.

towels hanging!!!...now thats something which is a common sight in india too!!!!
love the shots u have taken of the city!!
Ahhh...these are awesome pics....feel like heading back to Amsterdam...
Amsterdam parait bien plus gaie et accueillante que dans la chanson de Jacques Brel !
Hi,
This stroll was fantastic and you have show some beautiful and exclusive places for me to see.
Best wishes,
Joseph
"Carré" rond ou pointu, des bâtiments cossus en tous les cas et pourtant nous n'avons pas besoin d'aller loin depuis Cergy pour trouver de ces façades que j'appelle "dans l'autre sens" et que l'on trouve dans les cités ouvrières du nord de la France...
Amsterdam is really a place where you can walk around for hours (unless you are biking of course) and discover one "plein" or canal nicer than the other! Maybe the next post will be about your night tour?
Hi Gil, I adore that first photo....great composition and that flat brick. Would love to see the inside. :)
Very nice post, keep them coming. This is a fabulous city.
Now what's the story with that laundry?
Amsterdam, terrific, what's next?
Asia? it's more challenging. Jacques Brel certainly made a statement, I don't recalll that song, other songs yes. out of the ordinary footage of him.
very beautiful architecture! the flatbrick building is really cool!
Nice to visit your blog after a long time. All the pictures of Amsterdam are so beautiful and lively that I feel visiting the place now. Oh! what a marvellous architecture. Simply amazing.
Beautiful place. Lot to see around.
Fascinating Amsterdam!
Nice angle with the laundry.
Thank you for sharing.
Have a great weekend.
a place worth visiting, for sure! have a great weekend! please note that my blog has changed to an aminus3 address!
I just like the first picture-big city but habits very much like in cozy towns:)
Amsterdam is a great city to explore. I would love to go to the Carré one day.
With such a challenge I had to jump in to see what you made of the city of "van de Valk" - a successful BBC police detective series from the '70s -. I remember vividly my first ever visit to Amstderdam (coming out of 1960s Germany for a short week-end). It was a revelation. Cross an invisible line on the map and a totally different cosmos opens up. That's the wonder of Europe - multiple parallel worlds all existing in real time side by side. You only have to slip through the "worm hole" to find it. All you need is a valid ID doc and you are there!!!!
Recovered from my mailbox after the Blogger disaster:

Hi Folks! This post stayed ahead in the blog for a long period of time and got the least number of comments since Blogtrotter Two has been created. It makes me think that the model is coming to an end... Anyhow, thanks for your comments and keep making them... I’ll try to keep replying, though I feel that no more than five or six of you pay attention to the answers... ;)
Dianne,
My pleasure! Next, still Amsterdam... Just to close the chapter... ;)
Alice,
Streets in Amsterdam are dangerous; too close to the water... ;)
Thérèse,
Bons souvenirs, j’espère...
Constance,
The Rokin is exactly like that; the Carré doesn’t have laundry drying on the houseboats on the other side of the Amstel everyday... ;)
Cloudia,
Aloha!!
Susu,
Amazing Amsterdam... ;)
Carmen,
Amsterdam is no city to visit on a day cruise stop... Even if you give up the nudists... ;))
Hélène,
Et elles sont belles...
Diane,
It came out perfect!!
G@tto,
Crazy paradise: I was there in 1969. But didn’t return... ;)
Part Two:
Niki-san,
Great to read you back here!!
Rakesh,
My pleasure!!
Friend,
Just a joke with the New York Flatiron... ;)
Eye,
It takes some time, but sometimes it works... ;)
Pat,
And this time I didn’t enter the museums, except the Hermitage; they’re awesome!!
Magic,
Glad you liked...
Lady,
We removed it in Europe... except for some countries that only geographically are in the European continent. ;)
Pietro,
Thanks!!
Paul,
The new Hermitage in Amsterdam is a treat to visitors!!
Joyce,
Amsterdam could be named «The Bike City”... ;)
Thanks!!
Part Three:
Star,
Amsterdam should be sister of some city in India; but it isn’t... ;)
Yvonne,
Great that it brought memories back; excellent, I presume...
Daniel,
Il y en a de tout. ;)
Joseph,
My pleasure!!
Lucie,
Façades dans l’autre sens… curieuse image!!
Peter,
There was also a night tour; but discreet... ;) No hot pictures... ;)
Lynn,
That first one couldn’t be missed: the Royal Theatre and the white boxers... ;)
Ron,
Thanks!
Ted,
«Cama, mesa e roupa lavada». That’s a Portuguese saying when you have someone providing you lodging: bed, meals and laundry made... ;)
Julia,
Long time no see; great to read you back!!
Mariposa,
Indeed!
Part Four and final, for the time being...
Babli,
Great to have you back!! I’ll visit you soon!!
Rajesh,
Not so many temples, however...
Regina,
Thanks!! I also liked that angle...
Lara,
Great new blog you have!!
Ola,
That’s what happens when you live in a boat... ;)
Juka,
I’m sure you’ll make it... Not that far...
Stuart,
Coming from Germany to Amsterdam in the 60s; what a shock it must have been... ;)
You don’t even need to have a valid; provided it expired within the last 5 years... European Agreement on Regulations governing the Movement of Persons between Member States of the Council of Europe... ;)
Provided that the Danes and Mr. Sarkozy and... don’t jeopardize the Schengen agreement... ;)
That flatbrick sure is something. Not sure how the space is in that building. Looks pretty skinny though.
Barb,
One has to win the Biggest Loser to get into that building... ;)
